The Wendyl’s story to date…
Wendyl Nissen left a corporate career editing magazines and moved home to work where she discovered that a more simple life, clear of commercialised products filled with nasties, is not only nurturing for yourself and your family but much healthier, cheaper and most importantly green.
She researched traditional old-fashioned recipes for cleaning and began sharing them through the Wendyl’s newsletter which now goes to more than 15,000 people every week.
And, with the help of her son Daniel, they started making them to sell online under their house and then in the Grey Lynn store.
In March 2016, Triona and Grant became the owners of Wendyl’s. They share the same desire for a chemical free lifestyle that is affordable to all, whilst being sustainable on our wonderful planet. In September 2016, Triona and Grant decided to move Wendyl’s to their home in Auckland.
The Wendyl’s range of products are now all handmade in Greenhithe. With only natures best used, they contain no fillers, chemicals or synthetics. The base of our range are premium quality ingredients like baking soda, soda ash, borax, vinegar and oxygen bleach. No fragrances are used in any of our products, all scents are from pure essential oils.
These ready-to-use products are unique. They come with all the information you need to make them yourself and create your own uniquely ‘you’ products. They may not look, smell or feel like something off the supermarket shelf, but neither does the food you’ve grown in your garden. The quality and satisfaction you get from creating your own household cleaners and knowing exactly what you’re using is something you can’t find at the supermarket and the Wendyls team are happy to bring it to you.
We won’t tell you how to live your life or make you feel guilty. Our intention is to educate through our website and books and share all of the recipes so that you can see the benefits for yourself if you make them or purchase our ready to use products.
